The modern atheist and agnostic demands proof that there is a God. What better proof of his existence could he provide than becoming human himself? Jesus of Nazareth is the most documented and attested-to figure in history. There is zero doubt to his historical existence. He claimed to be God and backed up that claim by defying the most certain thing in life – death.
Although he was the Son of God, Jesus of Nazareth learned obedience through the things he suffered. He became a servant, looking like a regular man, and humbled himself to the point of an excruciating death on a cross. Because of his obedience, God exalted him to his right hand as King of Kings and gave him a name greater than all other names.
At the name of Jesus Christ every knee will bow, and every person will confess that he is Lord for the glory of God the Father. It’s very simple: you and I are separated from God because of our rebellion, and Jesus Christ is the mediator between the two parties, resolving their dispute through his sacrifice and bloodshed on the cross.
I have nothing but admiration for what Jesus did for me, and will with all sobriety, gladness, and reverence surrender to his authority! Unlike the kings of the earth, he is a kind, loving, and gentle King who deserves our full devotion and worship.
Timothy Brindle’s The Humility of Christ presents, in a most convincing fashion, the magnificent descent” of Jesus: the quantum leap he made from his throne in heaven to become a humble human being.
